How do I register with the Investigator Database?

Currently only NCI–, PanCAN–, and Lustgarten-funded investigators are able to register on the investigator database. Investigators involved in pancreatic cancer research who are funded by other organizations will be added at a later date. For instructions on registering, please see Joining the Pancreatic Cancer Research Map.

How do I add to or update my Investigator Profile?

If you have previously registered with the Map, you may update your information online at any time by logging on to your Investigator Profile. If you have forgotten your password, you may use the Password Recovery page to retrieve it.

How are research projects characterized?

The NCI Common Scientific Outline (CSO) is used to characterize research projects.

The CSO is further subdivided into 38 subcategories.

The CSO is helping lay the framework for better coordination among research organizations, making it easier to compare and coordinate public, private, national, and international cancer research efforts.

In addition, all research projects will be mapped to the Pancreatic Progress Review Group (PRG) recommendations.

The default "current active" display includes projects that were active during the last 2 calendar years.

Can I get funding information from the Pancreatic Cancer Research Map?

Yes. Funding information from participating granting agencies is available on the Funding Opportunities page. In Phase I, NCI funding opportunities will be posted as they are released. Private funders will begin posting opportunities in the first quarter of 2005. Funding opportunities from private funders will be posted as they are released.

What is planned for the future of the Pancreatic Cancer Research Map?

In early 2005, grants and funding opportunities from both the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) and the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer were added to the portfolio. In addition, we are already speaking to other organizations about joining the collaboration.

Throughout 2005, the Research Map Web site will be adding new functionality to provide more tools, resources, and information to assist in the fight to eliminate pancreatic cancer. Check the Home page frequently for information about additions and changes to the site.
